St. Wenceslaus Day Celebration at The Island Church

Waterloo, WI:   The Island Church Foundation invites the public to come back to

the island this fall as we conclude our 150th year with the annual St. Wenceslaus

Day celebration on Sunday, September 22, 2013. The celebration will take place

from 11 am4 pm and will include a soup and sandwich lunch and a Catholic

mass in the church at 2:00 pm.

A card party will take place at the Island Church Foundation Meeting Hall, located

next to the Island Church on Saturday, September 21 at 1:00 pm. $5.00 per

player, includes card game (Euchre and Sheepshead) and a chili supper.

St. Wenceslaus Church was built in 1863 and closed in 1891. The church is

opened to the public each year to observe St. Wenceslaus' Day. There is a

cemetery behind the church. The Island Church, as it has become known, is a

Wisconsin registered landmark, located at the intersection of Island Church and

Blue Joint Roads, off Hwy 89, south of Waterloo, WI.

The Island Church Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to

preserving and promoting the Island Church.
