Francis B. "Lefty" Blaska
SUN PRAIRIE/ MARSHALL


    Francis B. "Lefty" Blaska, age 72, was taken to his eternal home to reunite with the love of his life on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the Lighthouse Assisted Living, Sun Prairie.
    He was born on July 20, 1935, in Madison, the son of Benjamin and Sylvia (Ullrich) Blaska.
    He was united in marriage to Lavaune H. Braaten on April 12, 1954, and they enjoyed 46 years of marriage until her death on Aug. 29, 2000.

     Mr. Blaska was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a member of the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church.
    Francis was a star athlete in high school at Sun Prairie and got his nickname "Lefty" during this time.
   Lefty enjoyed working on his "weekend" (sometime weekdays and nights) farm using his John  Deere equipment.
    He loved boating and traveling to different places and always looked forward to his annual family trip to Christmas Mountain, Wisconsin Dells.
    Francis had a great outlook on life and was noted for his infectious smile.
    He will be missed by his beloved family including his children, Sharon Blaska of Sun Prairie, Kirk Blaska of Marshall and Kerry (Carrie) Blaska of Marshall; his grandchildren, Jace (fiancé Darcy) Selmer, Dustin (fiancé Michelle) Morfey, Ryan Morfey, Brandon (Fiancé Nikki) Morfey and Kelsee Blaska; great-grandson, Caleb Selmer; his sister, Beverly (Donald) Vokey of Hernado, Fla.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.
    Besides his wife he was preceded in death by parents; and a granddaughter, Shilo Blaska.
    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at 4 p.m. at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie with the Rev. Scott Carlson officiating.
    Burial will be held in Sun Prairie City Cemetery with a reception to follow at Sun Prairie United Methodist Church.
    Friends are invited to call on Wednesday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m. Memorials would be appreciated to HospiceCare, American Cancer Society or to the family.
